Top 3 Changes that Could Have Been Made in the New Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter
Microsoft has recently released the new Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter for Surface Pro Laptops. The Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is already available for purchase. It is suitable for the newest Surface Pro (models 1796 and 1807) and Surface Laptop (Model 1769). Microsoft had been promising this adapter for about a year, but prior experience with other devices, as well as paid or free software released by this tech giant was a good giveaway that the adapter would not be as perfect as one could hope for.
Officially, the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter is designed for education and enterprise users, but it can be purchased by anyone who would like to have it. It really helps to charge a Surface device with a USB-C charger, or plug in a USB-C device through the Surface’ proprietary Connect port.

This change could help to use a multi-port charger with USB-C and USB-A ports to charge different devices at the same time. Although it would probably be very easy to knock the cable out of the Surface Connector on the side of the computer, as it would likely use a magnetic attachment. Something for Microsoft designers to think about.
2. An adapter with the Surface Connect port and USB-C port
Another good idea could be to make an adapter with the Surface port and a USB-C port. It would be an adapter that plugs into the side of the Surface and also lets you plug a USB-C cable into it. This would easily let you plug in a USB-C dock with more USB-A ports, video out, Ethernet, and power into the side of the Surface.
3. More than one port
It would be much better if there were more than one port on the Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter. The size of the breakout box on the existing USB-C adapter is huge. It has enough space for more USB-C, A ports or even an HDMI port. But unfortunately there is only one USB-C port that fits inside the very big Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter.
And probably the most obvious and useful idea would be to put a USB-C port on the laptop itself. If that were done, there would be no need in any other changes. But for now, all that we can do is deal with this big Surface Connect to USB-C Adapter, since there are no clues, which would give away that Microsoft might be working on a better option at the moment.
